Childhood memories of long road trips fill my dreams as summer approaches. My mom would have games planned out with small rewards (a piece of candy or silly toy) for completion. I can honestly say it made things go by so much faster!! And I couldn't wait to see what the next "prize" was!!!! It could have been a piece of gum but it was thrilling to my younger self! A little healthy competition between sisters added a whole other element of fun.
Of course, I have continued the tradition but up until now, it's been hard to engage E with much. The introduction to reading has opened a WHOLE NEW WORLD for her AND ME! So for this summer trip, I am determined to make it magical. My first project: a summer/beach themed BINGO game. Just in case it's super popular, I created 11 boards so all the kids can play for a Bingo and S'mores night by the bonfire.
I didn't want to leave 2 year old H out and this is a good opportunity to start engaging him in some learning activities too. So, to make it multi-age appropriate, I have included some flash cards to show H and he can try to match the pictures.
IT's EASY
cut the boards into 5x7 and the flash cards into 4x6
laminate (or don't)
punch a whole in the upper left corner
use a book ring like this to keep together

I am so excited to play them with the kids on the beach (and in the car). I have purchased a few silly gifts from the $ store and the $ bins at target for the winners! E is already chomping at the bit to play.
