Easter is coming...Break an Egg

I am so excited about Easter this year! I have always loved Easter. Heck, I am a sucker for any and all holidays but the result of holidays like Easter and Halloween these days is a bunch of candy that Aaron and I don't want to eat and our kids do, so much that they FIGHT us all the time, nagging "can we have a piece of candy," "if I eat all my dinner can i have some candy?" No child, you are just supposed to eat your dinner because it's what we do to sustain LIFE, ugh!

SO this year, I only purchased one bag of candy. I got a few little toys to put in some eggs and then I just to make sure I wasn't slacking, I went online to see what other moms do... WARNING: don't do that. Moms are crazy. I don't have time for all that crazy stuff, homemade gifts and such.

Then, I happened upon a normal mommy/teacher blog (teacher are not crazy, they are smart) and my quick and easy "Break an Egg Easter Hunt" was born! Her idea was more general for everyday learning. You can see that here. It's GENIUS!!!

I took her lead and created a quick activity for our Sunday Morning Easter Egg hunt.

It's so simple. You get this awesome pack of Scrabble letters and some Plastic Easter Eggs and print out my Break an EGG EASTER HUNT WORKSHEET. HINT: you don't have to pay $7 for the eggs -- The $ store has them for, well, a dollar.

From there, there is not a whole lot of work. Sort out the scrabble letters for each word and throw one word in each egg. You can opt to cut the pictures out and put them in the egg with the word or, for a little more challenge, you can let them figure out the word by looking at the spread sheet and unscrambling the word. In our case, E will have to write out each word while sounding it out as a little added writing practice.

You hide the eggs and let them go to town! I am not evil, I am still mixing in a few eggs with Candy and toys but the real reward will come when she figures out all the words she gets a gift that doesn't fit in an egg... knowledge. Just Kidding, We got the girl some WellieWisher Rain Boots :-)
